The purpose of this article is to give a survey of some results I have found in investigations concerning logical modalities. The results refer: (1) to semantical systems, i.e., symbolic language systems for which semantical rules of interpretation are laid down; (2) to corresponding calculi, i.e., syntactical systems with primitive sentences and a rule of inference; (3) to relations between a Cited by: Logic, Truth and the Modalities: from a Phenomenological Perspective. As we said above, it seems to be universally accepted that, if there are any logical truths at all, a logical truth ought to be such that it could not be false, or equivalently, it ought to be such that it must be true.

Alethic modality (from Greek ἀλήθεια = truth) is a linguistic modality that indicates modalities of truth, in particular the modalities of logical necessity, possibility or impossibility.. Alethic modality is often associated with epistemic modality in research, and it has been questioned whether this modality should be considered distinct from epistemic modality which denotes the Irrealis: Deontic, (what should be), Benedictive, .

Logic, Truth and the Modalities: From a Phenomenological Perspective (Synthese Library)Author: J.N. Mohanty. Logic, Truth and the Modalities From a Phenomenological Perspective Authors: Mohanty, J. They deal with the four kinds of logic I have been concerned with: formal logic, transcendental logic, speculative logic and hermeneutic logic.

Of these, only one, the essay on Hegel, touches upon 'speculative logic', and two, those on Heidegger and Konig, are concerned with truth logic.

The rest have to do with Husser. and Kant. Logic, Truth and the Modalities: From a Phenomenological Truth J. Mohanty (auth.) This volume is a collection of my essays on philosophy of logic from a phenomenological perspective.
